American Painter Don Sahli presents Artist-In-Residence at Santa Fe Fine Art, October 2-3, 2009
Don Sahli – an American painter, teacher of the Russian School of Impressionism, and the last apprentice to the famous Russian colorist Sergei Bongart.
For something new this season, Sahli brings a group of paintings to be featured in each gallery during his 2009 Artist-in-Residence events. The Analogy Collection includes paintings created during Sahli’s Barnes & Noble Bookstore events and while teaching Passion and Art of Painting Class. The students in this class are advanced and striving to take their painting to the next level. Don created the still life set-ups with specific goals for mastering the concepts of structure, shape and form, color relationships, the concept of light and its influence on the painting of a painting.
Sahli brings his vision of color, harmony, passion and tradition to art enthusiasts in the Santa Fe area during this multi-faceted event. Sahli will spend time painting plein air throughout Santa Fe, stopping spontaneously to capture local scenes on canvas. Sahli will also “set up” his studio in the gallery – creating graceful still life and interior paintings. Collectors can stop by to hear, firsthand, the stories behind all of these different genres.
Don Sahli has had a passion for and connection with New Mexico, and painted its rich and beautiful landscapes, since the beginning of his 30-year career as an artist. Regional subjects - from a mission chapel to a rural neighborhood scene - will bring nostalgic reflections to their collectors.
As the Artist in Residence, Sahli will be at Santa Fe Fine Art Gallery on Friday, October 2, 2009 from 4:00-8:00pm, Saturday, October 3, 2009 from 10:00am-1:00pm and 4:00-8:00pm. Don’s work is available Santa Fe Fine Art Gallery on an ongoing basis.
