Scratchboard/airbrush

This is 18X24 piece i did on Ampersaand claybord white. ( cross posted in Scratchboard) i layed the image out on the board...transferred from my drawing....i just sprayed as well as i could, then sanded off what i didn't like with a small fiberglass brush...about the size of a sharpee tip ..spray some more and sand again...i used no frisk film and little freehand shield really ...

These ampersand boards are great to work on.....

thanks for looking

Stunning! Love working in a reductive technique! You can get the same type of results with hot press illustration board or prep Canvas/Masonite with gesso wet sanding between layers for a glass sooth surface. Then use Comart transparent smoke illustration paint and erasers. Of course the board you used is a lot less work!

Great Piece Rod-man I really like the perspective it turned out well with a nice use of the brush effect on the road and hood of the car. Thanks for taking the time to post it over here as well.

Impressive work!
The perspective of the car also adds a lot of "presence"./

Re: Scratchboard/airbrush

Stunning, the contrast from pure black to pure white makes this piece sparkle. What airbrush do you use? It must be pretty fine for you to not use any frisket or hand shields. Congrats on being featured in the newsletter. Awesome work.

Re: Scratchboard/airbrush

Sweet! I'd like to see a wip or vid of you doing a part of that. I can imagine sanding and scratching then shading over it with some transparent black. Really cool piece.
