Hi  Yes, everywhere & anywhere with computer access!
We used to have the globe at the top of the page, a cool globe with paint colors dripping on it, to show we are "global"!  Enjoy!

Ha, Sigrun, we have at least 43 members from Iceland! We've got 5 from Tunisia, 237 from South Africa, 53 from Russia, 209 from Brazil, and 75 from China...we even have two from the Faroe Islands! And remember, these are the minimum numbers because not everyone fills out their profile to say where they are from.

I am from Glendale, Arizona, and formerly from Madison, Wisconsin, and I was born in Freeport, Illinois.
quite some time ago I prepared an article here, regarding glazing in oils (this is the link to the article: http://www.wetcanvas.com/Articles2/32418/530/ ).
This little painting became quite well-known from this article, and when I sold it about a year ago, I announced the sale on Wet Canvas. I received congratulations from all over the world, via Wet Canvas. That was very nice, as well as humbling, and I enjoyed the well-wishes from all those fellow artists, whom I still thank. |

most of the flags are USA, with a few ausies, canadians and Uk sprinkled in. This is an ENGLISH LANGUAGE art site. (And I mean american english as well as english) You will find mostly english speaking counties, followed by european countries where english is a second or third language or very much taught in society or school. Then the individuals that come from other countries not particularly versed in english, but through personal experience or talent in language, are comfortable enough to post on this site. I occassionally see posts by people where english is their 3rd or 4th language, and I applaud that rich diversity, even if it is hard for them to express exactly what they want or need from the site. I have also, unfortunately, found that some people presume that a poorly written posts means a not-so-bright individual posting; when in reality it could be a creative genius that posts, just not in their native tongue.
Other countries have their own sites, their own forums, in their own language and culture, that have a quite different feel than what you get here. Yes, this is a rainbow, but I wouldn't say it covers all of the spectrum. Not that it should or could. No forum can be all things to all people.

If you'd like to research how many members we have in any given country (remember, it will always be under-counted because a lot of people don't complete their profiles) or identify some you might like to PM and get together with, see this article. Just plug the country into the appropriate box on the Advanced Search and voila!

Well, I am from the US, North Carolina to be exact, and I have always wondered how many Carolinians are here. Hello to everyone out there. I, too, enjoy the diversity and I'm so amazed at the linguistic ability of non-English speakers. Very impressive!

I like that when I post a question, the answers come from all over the world. Wonderful, generous artists from everywhere helping little ol' me. It's nice to know I have so many friends. It makes me feel like I am not alone in my quest to become a good artist. WC really is a COMMUNITY. |

We have at least a couple of thousand Australian members, including 15 who identify themselves as living in Cairns! Use the link in my post above to find out more about them.
