The Royal Academy of Arts presents a major solo exhibition of the work of the internationally acclaimed artist Anish Kapoor, winner of the 1991 Turner Prize and one of the most influential and pioneering sculptors of his generation. Has anyone had the chance to visit yet? would be great to hear your thoughts.

This Exhibition will be open until December 11th so feel free to come down and see what all the buzz is about. For a sneak peak so the below image:

It's a shame you wont be able to make it. You can still view this section of the exhibition live via our webcam.

Thanks.

Just now it is not opening hours in London, but I managed to see the pre-recorded video of the first shot.

I think that is a type of red wax. He has been using it in other shows.

Re: Anish Kapoor Exhibition at the Royal Academy of Arts - London

Shooting into the Corner, consists of an air-powered cannon firing pellets of red wax into the corner of a room at regular intervals, gradually building up a sculpture that will grow and change over the course of the exhibition.

It is also the same material that is currently being transported through the Royal Academy. Five of the academy's rooms in central London are taken up by Svayambh, a huge block of red wax that moves very slowly on rails, leaving a residue in its wake. At three metres tall and two and a half wide, the block is too big to fit through the doors, so it will deposit wax on the frames as it squeezes through.

I think you'd have got a more favorable response if you'd joined here in time to promote the Waterhouse exhibition

A lot of us liked that, but are less impressed with the current show at the Royal Artillery err.. Academy.

Some people might need to Google Anish Kapoor a bit, and see what his work is about. You all probably know at least one of his sculptures, without realising it.

I'll be there! Hoping to meet up with a fellow artist & mountain biker in the next couple weeks whose coming down to London. Rather hoping the ticket doesn't cost as much as the Turner and the Masters I've just seen tho (literally, I'm having a coffee in the Tate cafe with my laptop).

Tina.

Hi timelady.

Did you get a chance to visit the exhibition yet or are you still waiting for your fellow artist to join you in London. Would love to hear your thoughts on the show.

The Anish Kapoor exhibition isn't as expensive as the Turner and Masters by a small amount.
