Re: Landscape 1

The sky looks great, Dana. If you add more variations in tone and value to it, like you had previously, but keeping it in this gray-er tone, it will just sing! The water is supposed to reflect the sky, and it's not quiet doing it--but it could very well be just the photo. I really like your landscapes--they have an ethereal quality to them--a little Renoir-ish.

Re: Landscape 1

HI, Tali! Actually the sky is much lighter IRL. Just can't seem to get a good photo of it. It's lighter than the water.

Renoir-ish? OH, my dear! I wish!!! I'll take that as a supreme compliment and please know you've just made my day, true or not.

Re: Landscape 1

Yeah, getting good photos is such a pain. It seem like I need to upgrade my camera almost as much as my art-supplies. Sigh

Of course it's true! I hope I haven't developed a reputation for untruths! I've had the great privilege of seeing a few of Renoir's originals. Not everyone appreciates his talent--such a dedicated artist! Your brushwork on the landscapes is quite reminiscent of his—especially his later works (but not in a copy-cat sort of way), and he only got better with experience. Glad I made you day—isn’t it nice when truth isn’t as painful as we originally thought? Keep painting those landscapes--they are marvelous!

Re: Landscape 1

Tali, I wasn't aware that Renoir had painted that many landscapes and immediately googled his work. Thanks for educating me! I've not studied him much and thought he painted mostly people. Thank you again!!!

Anne, thanks very much for the very kind words!

Re: Landscape 1

Thank you, Janet! I've changed a few things upon suggestions from others. But, for now, it's finished until I get more suggestions on improving this. LOL!
