When I set out to paint this piece I wanted to capture the warmth and tranquility of the scene but still show the power and majesty of the lioness. I feel quite happy that I have achieved most of these objectives. Once again I've learned quite a bit about mixing shadow colours by adding the colours compliment to grey it naturally, and also, how adding texture to just the important parts (i.e. the center of interest) gives a feeling of depth to the painting.
