Wet Canvas...my second home. When it came to art, I truly was an island unto myself before I discovered Wet Canvas. When I first joined, I was hesitant to become a posting member, as many lurkers here can relate to. But believe me, when I finally did take that first step, I soon found out what Wet Canvas is all about....a beautiful community of caring people who take a serious interest in the same creative process that I do. Each and everyday I find new inspiration from all of the fantastic things Wet Canvas has to offer!

This large painting was inspired by a small postcard version that I created for one of the Postcard Projects here at Wet Canvas!

Title: Far Light
Size: 14" x 18"
Medium: Watercolor on Arches 300 LB Ruff paper.

I painted this from a photo I took while out painting in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains. What intrigued me was the light coming from the center of the painting as I looked down this shaded stretch of the creek. The trees in the distance were in full sun and the creek in-front of me was in shade. I drew out the composition and then masked out areas that I wanted to remain bright and then using a series of pours did most of the coloring in the painting. I then went back and removed areas of the masking and worked up the light in the painting.

This piece has lots of things relating to WetCanvas!. It is my final painting from the workshop I took in 2001 from Milt Kobayashi who taught at the Scottsdale Artist's School BUT was a mentor long before I met him. His inspiration and education in the forum continues to push me to the level of professionalism he opened my eyes to in the forum.
Gratefully,

First of all I’d like to thank Wet Canvas and TeAnne for the invitation to participate in the Café Art Show.

There is no other website on the Internet I know of that brings such a large talented and interesting group of folks together as Wet Canvas. I’d just like to thank the Wet Canvas folks for helping me to make some wonderful friendships and nourish my artist soul.

Best,

Kathy, aka MKathleen

Web searching for tutorials on digital art lead me to WetCanvas over two years ago. I soon discovered that I had found much more than tutorials. This was like finding an Artist’s colony, full of creative people. Even better, they were kind, enthusiastic, helpful people.

The past two years have been my most artistically prolific ever. The folks at WC! have played a large role in that. All of the advice, encouragement and camaraderie inspired me to try new mediums and techniques.

I've hung so many copies of my pieces in my office at work that people have started to call it “The Gallery”. Many stop by regularly to view the new pieces.

WC! has been great for me as a person and as an artist. It is still one of the finest communities on the ‘net.
