![]() | This is a fairly simple scene to paint, having only a few key lines in the entire composition. Easy to sketch out with charcoal or thinned paint if that would be your procedure, however, I thought I would show you another neat trick of the WetCanvas! Reference Image Library.
Aside from creating cool painting simulations from an image, you can also create a computerized "sketch". Here, I’ve printed that out and propped it up for reference. |
![]() | Take a piece of charcoal, (charcoal vine stick in this case) and... |
![]() | Create a build-up of charcoal to act in a sense like carbon copy paper "scrubbing" in the key areas (working it in in reverse)... |
| Now fold over the top edge of the paper, fastening it to your canvas, taking care to line everything up.
Then, use a ballpoint pen to draw over and trace the key lines. The charcoal build up will transfer your drawing to the canvas surface. | ![]() |
