I'd like to try this same painting again, on a slightly larger canvas, and actually take the time to work more detail into the foreground foliage. In addition, I think I would use a bit more cad red straight from the tube to really punch it up. If you compare this painting to the original photo, my red is more muted, and not quite as luminiscent. Perhaps I'll go back in and scumble some cadmium red highlights later. :) If you'd like to try your hand at rendering this subject, or would like to see this same painting done by other artists, check out the Red Poppies project in the WetCanvas!
